Though the game started around 140 years ago with the test version which ran for five days, today the shorter versions of the game are becoming more popular.

First, we had the one-day matches which were spread over 100-overs where each team got to bat for 50 overs. This is still quite popular, but today we have an instant version of the game which is becoming hugely popular. Referred to as the 20-20 version, both the teams are given 20 overs each to play and outscore one over the others.

This is basically aimed at giving domestic players a chance. Further, you can pick up a maximum of only 6 players from an IPL team. In other words, six members can be from one IPL team, but the balance numbers of players have to be from a combination of other teams.

This is a very important point which must never be lost sight of. These are the main points that must be considered as far as IPL Fantasy team forming is concerned.

Rules Regarding Bowling, Batting, Fielding and Bonus Points

There are some rules regarding batting points. The basic rule is about the batting team getting 1 point per run. Strike rate points are also awarded, and this is nothing but a total number of scored divided by a total number of balls faced.

Then, there are also impact points which are nothing but 2 points for the batting team for every six scored. 5 points will be deducted if any batting team member gets out for a duck.

Then, there is also something known as milestone points. This is about the batting team getting 10 points for reaching every 25 runs and so on. In the same way, there are also bowling, and fielding points which are given to the respective teams that are fielding 20 base points are given for every wicket taken.

Further, there are economy rate points, and the formula for the same is balls bowled x 1.5 minus runs given. Milestone points of 10 for every 2 wickets taken are also available. 1 point for dot ball bowled, and 20 points for a maiden over bowled is applicable.

Fielding Points

As far as fielding bonus points are concerned, there are quite a few options available. 10 points are given for catch resulting in the wicket, 15 points for wickets falling because of stumping, 10 points for running out and 15 points for a direct hit run out. There are other different types of points, and one should spend some time understanding more about it.
